New allocation of sports funding to benefit Naas and Leixlip

12th December 2013

Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor, was delighted to learn this morning (Thursday) that funding has been allocated by Minister for Sport, Michael Ring, for a skateboard park in Naas and drain pitches for Lough na Mona in Leixlip.

“The allocation of funding to Kildare County Council to provide sports and recreational facilities in the County, is in equal partnership with Irish Public Bodies (IPB). The maximum amount of funding available to each project is €58k and it is heartening to see that both projects were allocated almost this level of funding – the skateboard park received €50k and Lough na Mona €56k.

“The provision of sporting and recreational facilities is vital for local communities. This government is prioritising such facilities through this scheme and the reopening of the Sports Capital Programme. I am looking forward to seeing the young people of Naas using this much sought after skatepark and wish Lough na Mona all the best”.
