Statement of

Anthony Lawlor TD

25th May 2011

“I wish to extend my congratulations to Stephen Nugent, the managing director, and all the staff at Nugent Manufacturing, Naas on the magnificent steel structure they built, which allowed gardener Diarmuid Gavin to take gold at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show” said Anthony Lawlor TD.

“I had the pleasure of visiting Nugent Manufacturing the day the “pod” was completed and I was amazed at the detail and work which was involved to complete this structure. It is a testament to the workers at Nugent Manufacturing that they were selected by a tender process to build the structure and that they engaged in this project with such expertise and finesse.

“It is wonderful that the town of Naas has had an input into Diarmuid Gavin’s success at Chelsea. His design and the fact that the entire project was home grown on Irish soil is certainly sending a message loud and clear that Ireland is very much ‘open for business’.

“I wish Stephen and all at Nugent Manufacturing the very best for their future and also extend my congratulations to Diarmuid Gavin whose vision inspired this creation and hard work paid off with the top award at Chelsea” concluded Kildare North Fine Gael TD, Anthony Lawlor.
