Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor TD, is calling on Kildare County Council to bring Naas parking bye laws in line with Kildare north towns like Celbridge and Leixlip.

“As of last Sunday, 1st June, Kildare County Council has been charged with the enforcement of pay parking in Naas town due to the abolition of Naas Town Council. For some time I have been calling on a change to the parking bye laws in Naas which would see an extension of free parking in the morning to accommodate parents dropping kids to schools and other early morning shoppers.

“Both Leixlip and Celbridge have free parking up until 10am and again after 4pm. I believe that similar free parking patterns in Naas town centre will generate revenue in the town as shops and other businesses may open earlier and consumers will be more likely to spend longer periods in the town centre.

“The free parking times in Leixlip and Celbridge, along with the free Saturday parking which is also in operation in Naas, has been a success to date. With the taking in control of parking enforcement by Kildare County Council in recent days, now is the time to re open this debate and assess the parking situation in Naas town centre which should benefit all.”
