Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, Anthony Lawlor, warmly welcomes the announcement by Minister Phil Hogan this morning (Thursday) that €427,242 has been awarded to the ACRE Project in Celbridge under the Rural Development Programme 2007-2013. The Department of Environment, Community and Local Government has sanctioned the County Kildare LEADER Partnership to approve this funding for the eco-friendly community resource building and amenity centre.

“I am thrilled that such a worthwhile organisation has been awarded this much needed funding. The work which the ACRE Project undertakes is beneficial not only to the Celbridge community but also the wider area of North Kildare. The ACRE Project exhibits a novel approach to providing learning and developmental opportunities to the local community, through an eco-friendly and horticultural perspective. They allow for the social and creative skills for young people to flourish and in particular benefits those with learning and social difficulties.

“The LEADER Partnership aims to enhance the quality of life in rural Ireland by providing greater opportunities for farm diversification, the development of micro enterprises, rural services, rural recreation and rural tourism. I firmly believe that the ACRE Project adheres to all of these main characteristics of the Partnership and I wish them well in their future endeavours.”
