Anthony Lawlor, Fine Gael TD for Kildare North, today confirmed that the N7 upgrade, Sallins bypass and Osberstown interchange, part of the Government’s Capital Programme, will go ahead as one project.
Deputy Lawlor said “I am delighted that so much progress has been made on these projects, which are desperately needed to relieve the daily traffic bottleneck on the N7 and in Sallins. The funding is secured for the works, the purchase of land is currently underway and I have today confirmed in Kildare County Council, that the projects will start simultaneously . ”
Lawlor continued “I have for some time been pressing to have these projects undertaken as one and raised the matter in the Dáil with the Minister for Transport, Paschal Donohoe, the Department of Transport and with the Transport Initiative of Ireland. I believe this is the most cost effective and efficient manner in which to complete all projects and less time will be spent on the tendering process, securing contractors and completing the work.”
“The Government have followed through on their promise to provide funding and it is now imperative that Kildare County Council work in a speedy manner to have these projects completed without delay” Deputy Lawlor said.
