Kildare is set to benefit from €41,000 for a local digital innovation project, a Fine Gael Senator has said.

Senator Lawlor said the Programme is designed to support and encourage imaginative uses of technology by Kildare County Council for the common good.

Senator Lawlor said: “I very much welcome the funding for this excellent project in Kildare.   “The latest call for applications under the Digital Innovation Programme will result in the upgrading of critical Traffic Signals communications infrastructure in Kildare.

“The projects that were submitted bear testament to the level of creativity and innovation in Ireland’s communities and within our local authorities.”

“These projects build upon the thirteen projects already approved under the Digital Innovation Programme in 2018.  And brings the value of funds granted under the scheme so far by my Fine Gael colleague Minister Michael Ring to more than €700,000.”

“The potential future savings that will come from piloting these initiatives ahead of large scale rollout are significant, as are the immediate benefits for many people across Ireland.”

“I would like to thank all of the local applicants for their hard work, diligence and creativity and we can expect another call for applications under the Digital Innovation Programme later this year,” Senator Lawlor said.
